Honored Guest Richard Harrison


Richard Harrison was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and moved to Los Angeles, California when he was seventeen. He became gym instructor and first appeared on stage in a Santa Monica play before working for 20th Century Fox Studios. He signed a three picture contract with American International Pictures which took him to Rome. Once there Richard lived in Italy for almost three decades making Sword and Sandal (Peplum) films, Spaghetti westerns, spy and war films. Of the Spaghetti westerns Richard appeared in seventeen directing one and writing screenplays for two. “Gunfight art High Noon”, “Gunfight at Red Sands” both in 1963, “$100,000 for Ringo” (1964), “El Rojo” (1967), “One After the Other”, “Vengeance”, “Between God the Devil and a Winchester” all in 1968, “Stagecoach of the Condemned” (1970), “Dig Your Grave Friend... Sabata’s Coming”, “A Man Called King”, “Reverend Colt”, “Sheriff of Rock Springs”, “Holy Water Joe” all in 1971, “Joe Dakota”, “Long Ride of Revenge”, “The Fabulous Trinity” all in 1973, “Jesse & Lester, Two Brothers in a Place Called Trinity” which he also directed and wrote the screenplay (1973). He also co-wrote the screenplay for “Scalps” (1987). Richard then returned to the U.S. where he continued to appear in films but spent more time behind the camera producing, directing and writing. Richard is also the father of Spaghetti western actor Sebastian Harrison. Richard will be a member of our distinguished panel of Spaghetti Western participants at the 1st Los Angeles Spaghetti Western Festival on March 19.

  2. Richard Harrison is a great actor. If you can, you will find him in an uncredited role from "South Pacific" in 1958.
