To get his inheritance the son of an English viscount leaves his homeland for the United States where his father had to flee after a scandal in which he then devoted himself to the business of being a bandit. To the friends of Thomas’ the dapper dandy that rides a horse strangely, and always goes unarmed, looks like a fish out of water and needs to be taught the ways of the west. Soon the pioneers who think they can take advantage of him begin to think again.
