Remembering Carlos Munoz

Carlos Carlos Muñoz Arosa was born on April 3, 1919 in Vigo, Galicia, Spain. After bit parts Muñoz 's career began at the time of the Spanish Civil War. He played his first roles in war films and patriotic dramas, such as “Sin novedad en el Alcázar” (1940), “Escuadrilla” (1941), “Los Últimos de Filipinas” (1945) and “El santuario no se cortex” (1949). In addition, one of his first successes was the melodrama “Marianela” (1940) directed by Benito Perojo, where he starred alongside Mary Carrillo and Cristina Guzmán next to his future wife, the actress and singer Marta Santaolalla .
 
In addition to his film career, which lasted until the 1990s and involved mainly numerous supporting roles in genre films and comedies, Muñoz was seen on stage, he acted in plays by Gregorio Martínez Sierra, Pirandello, Torcuato Luca de Tena, José Zorrilla and Víctor Ruiz Iriarte. He played the head of the family in the television series ‘La casa de los Martínez’ in 1971, and numerous other appearances in television and film before he passed away of stomach cancer in Madrid, Spain on April 15, 2005.
 
His lone Euro-western appearance was in “The Nephew of Buffalo Bill” (1944).
 
Today we remember Carlos Muñoz on what would have been his 95th birthday.
